A Chance to Start Again

Posted on Sun Oct 13th, 2019 @ 1:06pm by Lieutenant Borel Ellis & Lieutenant Skylar (Sky) Jansen

Mission: Echos in the Dark
Location: Sky's Quarters
Timeline: MD38

Sky sat on the sofa in her quarters she'd just sent Borel a message asking him to dinner with her in a couple of hours so they could catch up on old times, she just hoped he'd say yes. Admittedly it was short notice but maybe he'd forgive that.

Borel had been at work in the Strat Ops Office when the message came in. He figured they would need to have a conversation at some point now that they were serving together again.

~ 2 Hours later ~

Sky was nervous, she had no idea why but that was how she felt. Last time she and Borel had been together they'd gotten drunk and landed in bed together, not that she was complaining but if it was to happen again she'd prefer it to be when she wasn't drunk, not that she was planning the evening to turn out that way. She was wearing a little black number that showed up all her curves in just the right places, she just hoped that Borel would like it. As the door chime rang she answered it with a smile. "Hi Borel, come on in and make yourself at home!"

The Bajoran smiled and stepped into her quarters. He handed her a bottle of wine, "Hope you still like pinot noir."

Sky smiled as she took the bottle. “Are you kidding me! Last time we had one of these we drank each other under the table and ended up in bed!” She grinned. “Not that it was a bad thing.” She put the bottle down and did something she’d been wanting to do ever since that night. Walking over to him she gently slid her arms around his neck and kissed him with passion while her fingers ran gently through his hair.

Borel leaned into the kiss, a moment later when they broke apart they were both smiling. "Well hello."

Sky couldn’t help but grin. “Hello yourself. Sorry I...couldn’t help myself!” She took a deep breath taking his hand and motioning to the sofa. “I spent a long time thinking about that night, what I remember of it was...” She smiled. “Very enjoyable! back then I was torn between you and Jacen but having had time to consider I know where my heart lies.” She sat looking at him hoping he felt the same way.

Borel smirked, he had been attracted to Sky back on the Lex, and had known there had been things going on with her Jacen, the fact that he too now served on the Sutherland could make things awkward. "Well, we're starting with dinner so why don't we take it from there and see where things go." He said, "Speaking of dinner, is something burning?"

"I certainly hope not!!" She shot up out of her seat and raced over to where the food was cooking. "That was lucky! We almost had charred food, serves me right for getting stuck into you first!" She grinned a wry grin. "Anyway, grab a seat and I'll bring the food over. I thought you'd like a little something I put together that incorporates both your heritage and mine."

Ellis found a bottle opener and opened the wine pouring two generous glasses before handing one to Sky and taking a seat at the table. "Well burnt is probably still better than me attempting to actually cook, sadly I'm a replicator boy."

"Well for starters it's not burnt, luckily I managed to save it." She sipped her wine before smiling as she brought a selection of complimenting side dishes and a main to the table. "I remembered your favourite plus I added some complimenting side dishes from Betazed for you." She transferred her glass to the table and took a seat. "I hope you'll like them."

"I'm sure it's good." He said taking a sip of his own wine. He dug in and took a bite, "It's pretty good," He said.

“I’m glad you like it” She took a bite of her own food, politely eating it before speaking again. “So what have you been up to since last time I saw you? Did you end up with any of those women who were dying to get your attention aboard ship?” She grinned.

"Not really, the personal life always seemed to take a back burner." He replied, "What about you."

Sky offered a smile. “I err...never really bothered with anyone. I had my mind on...” She looked up at him before looking back at her food. “Someone else.”

"Oh really?" He said with a smirk.

Sky looked up and offered the best smile yet. "I get the feeling you like that idea?" She ate some more of her food as her eyes focussed on Borel.

"I'm not opposed to it," He said with a wink.

Sky couldn't help but grin. Finishing her food she sat looking at Borel. "Can I interest you in dessert?" Her fingers gently trailed across the top of his nearest hand as she spoke, yet her eyes never left his. "I'm sure I can offer you something you'd like?"

Ellis smiled, "I've got a better idea."

Sky smiled the biggest smile yet.

~ Sometime later ~

The pair were laying intertwined in Sky's bed, Borel half propped up on a pair of pillows with Sky laying on his chest. "So I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that this wasn't just a result of the wine this time." He said grinning.

"The wine had nothing to do with it!" Sky smiled as she rested her head on his chest. "I've been wanting to do that for a very long time Borel, it's just taken til tonight for me to realise it. So I'm assuming that this means you want us to give a relationship a try?"

"Eh, why not." Ellis replied before leaning down and kissing again.
